Set up Multiwfn on a Mac

Intro

• Multiwfn is not available for Mac
• use the Windows version using Wine, see instructions for installing wine under "Coding" on the wiki.

Install Multiwfn

• download Multiwfn for windows from its official website http://sobereva.com/multiwfn/download.html.

Multiwfn_3.8_dev_bin_win64.rar

• the *.rar file format is a compression format like *.zip.
• extract by double clicking
• move the resultant Multiwfn_3.7_bin_Win64 directory to where you want it (Applications or bin)

Run Multiwfn using Wine

• set the memory for Multifn to 64MB in your shell
• cd to your the folder you want to work in
• you can start Multiwfn by

export OMP_STACKSIZE=64M
wine /Applications/Multiwfn_3.8_dev_bin_Win64/Multiwfn.exe

• But ideally you want to give it the file to analyse, this needs a full path

wine /Applications/Multiwfn_3.8_dev_bin_Win64/Multiwfn.exe /path/file.wfx
